SUSTAINABILITY

INTRODUCTION

Cutting Edge endeavors to be as sustainable as possible in all aspects of our work, as we realise its important for all corporations and individuals alike to do their part to protect the environment. In this document I will lay out the key ways in which we actualize this in our working practices.

STEPS TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY

Material Use

-          All of the wood we use is FSC approved (https://www.creffields.co.uk/fsc-pefc-sustainability/).

-          ‘Eco Blockout Textile FR’ is an innovative blockout textile designed for our UV printing inks – we use industrial UV light to dry/cure our inks. ‘Eco Blockout Textile FR’ has a unique white print face made from 100% recycled PET plastic bottles, and has a grey and black woven reverse made from 100% polyester, which ensures complete blockout plus total scratch and scrub resistance. This is a highly sustainable textile comprising 50% recycled content with 100% recyclable afterlife. The material is PVC free.

-          The screws we use on-site (Turbo Coach Screws) are designed to be reused after every event.

-          We use Mylands paint. Mylands paints are water based with a low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) content, making them virtually solvent free and kind to the environment.

Material Re-use

-          Where possible, stock items are used, reducing the use of unnecessary materials.

-          The flattage on the jobs is put into storage and reused next year where possible.

-          Flattage not being put into storage will be reused on separate jobs.

-          As mentioned above, the screws we used on site will be reused on jobs going forward.

-          Wooden sticks used as stiffeners as well as braces will be bunched up and put back into our stock, ready to be used again on other jobs.

Material Recycling

-          Any materials that cannot be reused will be responsibly recycled by our recycling supplier RWR Commercial (www.rwrcommercial.co.uk).

CONCLUSION

We believe that we have taken all of the possible steps in assuring we have delivered this project in a sustainable way, with the view to doing so in the future. We do however welcome any comments / suggestions on this document that with help us to improve further in our efforts of working sustainably in the future.
